Doug has worked as a consulting engineer since 1988, and in that time has successfully completed over 1,000 construction projects of many types. His interest in creating energy efficient systems was developed early in his career, and has served him well as the construction industry has experienced a renewed focus on sustainable design.
Having worked closely with John Urban for most of his career, when the opportunity for continued collaboration surfaced in the summer of 2008 a new partnership was formed. This firm was founded with the intent of serving a select group of clients and setting a new standard of customer service in the industry. In his role as Partner within the firm, Doug provides business leadership, project management, and innovative mechanical design.
Doug believes that a design must be both efficient and financially sound in order to make it off the drafting board. As such, he has provided energy models and payback analyses that show the owner where his construction dollars can most wisely be spent. Whether it is through the use of highly efficient HVAC systems, building envelope upgrades, smart building controls or creative funding, his projects can usually show attractive payback periods.
Doug has served as project manager, client liaison and lead designer for projects as diverse as Schools (both k-12 and Higher Education), Data Centers, Corporate Facilities, Retail Facilities, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Multi-family Buildings. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology.
